Happy 4th of July!

Celebrating the 4th of July, American Independence Day this weekend.

(the photo is one I posted over at Intelligent Expressions today) I can't take credit for the quote - I saw it on Facebook this weekend - and it just struck a chord in my heart.

Last night my youngest son and husband and I went to the local AAA Baseball Game (Buffalo Bisons - they are the farm team for the Mets). They played and then we were treated to the World Renown Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (It think the best I have ever heard them!) along with a very long - fireworks display. They do this every year - it was the first time I had ever gone and I have to say it was very moving.

The baseball game was pathetic. Just awful! But the music and moments when they played the theme songs for each branch of our military - and had member of those organizations (veterans too) stand - it was beautiful. I imagined my dad standing with the other veterans when they played the US Army song.

It was a beautiful night with my youngest son and husband! I cannot remember the last time I was out that late! And I cannot remember the last time Coca Cola Field was so full.

It was fun. But now ... there are just a few short days to prepare for the trip of a lifetime.
